I have a new T3
I have a new WiFi Card for my new T3
I have an HP laptop with an 802.11b/g wireless card built in.
I have a D-Link Wireless 802.11g Router
I have High Speed Internet

I want to surf the web on my palm
I want to send and receive email from my palm

Theory says connect palm to laptop using 802.11b
Connect laptop to internet using 802.11g
Surf, email and be happy, you might think!!

Am I asking too much?
Am I missing something to be able to what I want?

You must connect the T3 to the router - not the PC. The pc won't connect to the Palm - it's not the router. You must connect to the router/network.

You can hotsync to the Laptop if the router is set up for a network (secured) connection and you have the WEB or WAP access codes - which of course would have been part of the intial setup.

If your router is not set up on a secure mode - then give me your physical address so when I'm in the neighborhood - I've got access to your WiFi. :D

Like MM, said, you must connect the Palm to the router, not to the laptop. 802.11b and 802.11g are compatible with each other so don't worry about connecting your Palm to your 802.11g router.

To troubleshoot: First, I don't believe Palm is compatible with WPA encryption. You will have to change to the weaker WEP encryption. Make sure you enter the SSID (wifi network name) exactly when you set up your Palm.

If you are still having trouble, disable all security in your router; encryption, MAC addressing and SSID broadcast. Your Palm should easily connect without security on your network.

After a successful connection, you can add security one at a time. Simply disabling SSID broadcasting will keep 99% of the world out of your network. Still, I recommend encryption but again, I believe you're limited to WEP.

Good luck!
