wifi battery use

At the risk of alienating folks who I am SURE have discussed this before, I am reviewing options here. Simply......How is the battery usage with the palm wifi card, on the T5? Can you get a couple of hours of surfing, or does the battery die quickly? Lets keep this specifically to the T3, or T5 pls.

Yeah, I got one bundled with my T5, and believe me, it sucks the palm's battery fast!

I wish that the wifi card at least came with a way to attach an auxilliary battery pack that just powered the card.

I found that with the T3 I could manage around 50 mins of surfing before the battery was unable to power the card anymore. It was one of the main reasons that I upgraded to a T5, which under the same circumstance can manage a little over three hours before needing a recharge.

From the battery use I've seen, 3 hours isn't realistic. I'll test it with my T5 this weekend, and get back to you.

are you sure man?i dont even think LD can do that with a built-in wi-fi,make sure and let me know,'cause i'll be upgrading then

thanks
daniel

Well, I'm browsing this forum from my T5, and it's been going strong for a little over an hour, with 59% battery left. I suspect that 3 hours is only attainable with long periods of Wi-fi power-saving, while reading pages. Weird... my battery just jumped back up to 64%.

With Wi-Fi back on, a few pages and 10 minutes later, it's dropped to 45%

Watching battery level is interesting. It doesn't represent remainig capacity well. When I have some time to do it, I'll do some average surfing for a few hours, and see how long it takes to drain to the point of shutting off the Wi-fi card.

When Wi-fi is transmitting, the battery drops quickly. When it stops transmitting, the level comes back up, up to 10%. Then when Wi-fi turns off, the battery level comes up even more. Turn Wi-fi back on, and the level drops whatever it rose when Wi-fi turned off.
