Why's my iphone mirror screen protector not letting the screen come through?

I put the screen protector on today and I followed all the instructions exactly but my screen is coming through really weird. There's like a rainbow on it and half the screen is yellow. But when I took it off the screens fine. My mum's works fine but she's got a 3gs. Does that make a difference? And am I not gonna be able to reapply the protector again?
