Why would you download Yahoo Messenger when you can chat right from your Yahoo email?

I have never downloaded a chat client because I'm completely paranoid about downloading anything to my computer unless it's absolutely neccessary. Plus I never felt the need to chat on my computer. But recently I noticed the imbedded chat feature in my Yahoo email, which I think is totally cool. So I'm wondering, what's the point of Yahoo Messenger now? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question.
 
Yahoo Messenger has a lot more features than the chat of Yahoo! Mail. You can also do PC to PC calling (which is free and means talking on voice with another person) or Phone Out sevice (calling somebody's phone which is not free) from Yahoo Messenger. Also as somebody else mentioned you can use webcams on yahoo messenger. You also need the the full program Yahoo Messenger if you want to go to the Yahoo chat rooms or if you want to have conferences with more than one person.
 
Lol.. i know i was wonderin the same.. me and my boyfriend text right from it and its awsome :) hmm.. iAnd people download it if they have a web cam
