Why would over 40 authors continue writing about a myth?

Why would over 40 authors of different backgrounds, in different languages and continents, in a period of over 1.500 years, bother to write 66 books of the same myth?

How does one begin to explain such historical, structural, prophetic, doctrinal, and spiritual harmony?
