Why would i want to unlock my phone? (W580i)

Hey Guys

I have a Rogers Canada branded SE W580i and i was wondering about the people on ebay offering the "codes" to unlock cell phones.

Why would i want the phone unlocked or unbranded?

Just curious what others think.

Well, if you need to use your phone in other GSM regions that doesn't have Rogers coverage. If you need to use a different service provider when you're travelling, the phone needs to be unlocked in order to use other SIM cards.

De-branding, you just free up some extra memory by getting rid of anything pertaining to the service provider.
 
Yo DK,

First, how old is the phone? That's the question you need to ask yourself. Do you care about this phone. For example: is it a brand new phone under a new contract. If this phone breaks can you afford a new phone outright? If you unlock a Rogers phone, warranty will be null and void. Also, Rogers Quad band phones work pretty much everywhere anyways. And if it doesn't, where ever you may be that your Rogers Quad doesn't work, just buy a cheap pay as you go in that country.

Just my opinion.....
