offer them a lower rate? I recently began a new job. Pay was not discussed during the interview, when they offered me the job or when I showed up on the first day. I had to ask at the end of the day and they said the job paid 2.5 dollars less an hr than what I asked for on my application. Is this a strategy employers use? I know now that I should have brought this up earlier, I assumed that it would be open to discussion since it was not brought up right away.
