Why would a life-long Democrat not support Obama last year?

My lifelong Democrat wife supported McCain. The reason? She found Obama to be lacking and dangerous. She was right.Take a look at the Shamulus Bill. You wanted him.You got him.Now live with it.

Maybe they believe that Mccain will flip back to old positions.. It's not like he's Ron Paul... Mccain did support a progressive tax plan at one time.. He was also pro environment...

I think race may have had something to do with it even if the person's black, I know other blacks who felt a black man couldn't run the country, some young too. Maybe the fear tactics of the right won them over all the middle name, Arab, muslim stuff, Reverand Wright, socialist rumors were the cause. Maybe they just didn't like the cut of the man's jib. I don't know I voted for him because it was the first time I believed even a little of what a politician said. I've never voted before Obama. I wouldn't have voted for Michael Steele nor Colon Powell, so I didn't vote for him on the basis of his race, i also didn't vote because he's a democrat. I'm anti both parties, so I don't understand your person's deal, I like Obam.

Preservation of the Constitution. Disapproval of Obama's character and the people he chooses to associate himself with, professionally and personally. Dismay with Obama's disturbing mood swings, short temper, and petulance. Disagreement with some legislation he has put forth (Global Poverty Act).Is that enough for you?If it is not, consider that he has admitted to using and selling drugs as a youth. What's okay about that? Phelps had a photograph of him with a bong; the media ate him up and spit him out, but it is okay for the President of the United States? I think not.Obama is about as far removed from the Democratic principles that I was raised to believe in as any one person can be.

John McCain is NOT racist. no matter what any of you people say. You just say that to start one thing, drama. Don't start something unless you're going to finish it. Iight?

You are assuming that a Republican is not pro civil rights, pro environment or pro education!!!The difference in these ideas is that you as democrat think that only the government can solve them and I as a Republican can assure you that the individual can solve them. For example, take education. Government run schoold are very ineffecient. Most don't even teach the kids anything. So what is the democrat solution? Just throw more money to the teachers union and say you care about the kids. The repbulican solution???? Give parents the choice to where they want to send their children. Make there be competition between the schools. Only then will they strive to be better.2nd civil rights?? Why in the world would you think we were anti civil rights? Environment....well here you have democrats thinking that we are causing global warming, when there is plenty of science out there that discredits that theory. I am a conservative, therefore I believe in conservation...but don't tell me that I am causing polar bears to be extinct.Taxes? Cut taxes for everyone. Period. Hell, let's just implement the fair tax and get rid of the IRS!!

I can't explain why any one individual votes for any one candidate.... nor do I care to speculate on one individual's vote.I can only explain my vote... In my history I voted for George HW Bush in 1992, I voted for Dole in 1996, I voted for George W Bush in 2000, and I voted for Kerry in 2004.... and I voted for Obama in 2008.Do you want to speculate on why I voted for Obama? Be my guest. I'll even give you a clue: I am tired of the GOP screwing up during Bush's time and the GOP allowing him to do this.

Maybe because they're more concerned with the right person for the job and not necessarily voting their party. Who knows and why does it matter to you?I know you're hoping to see that it's racism, because for some reason you appear to be obsessed with it.I've discovered that those who speak the loudest against a subject are often guilty of it.Homophobes are a great example.

I was a life long Dem who had been waiting for Hillary to run since the 90's. I was SO excited when she finally ran. All the sudden this Obama guy comes along and the media that I always trusted started lying about her and turning on her. This got me to thinking, maybe the media has been lying to us the whole time. After all, how could they say the things they did about Hillary (if they weren't Liberally biased) I was pis***, I joined PUMA, went on YA and discovered that the media had been lying to me the WHOLE time and that Republicans were not what they portrayed them to be. I read articles, listened to real journalist and then came to the conclusion, I AM NOT A DEMOCRAT!!! I know, go figure. Now I sit hear and read things from people calling Republicans the same things I used to call them, thinking, I MY GOD, I USED TO BE THAT STUPID!!!!
