Why would a guy want to talk to a girl he doesnt want to date,viice versa?

call me a douche but i only talk to girls i want to date. inever talk to a girl i want to have as a friend. heck idk how i evenmet my friends.
but why would someone talk to the opposite sex if they didnt find them atrractive
