Why won't windows media player burn a movie to a dvd r?

So i need help, i have some movies i want to put onto another dvd. I brought some maxwell dvd-r. I go into windows media player and click the burn buttom, it says it's burnt but after i try it again on the computer and my dvd player and also my mums, but theres nothing on it. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
