Why won't the Government bring down the amount of tax on Vehicle Fuels?

It strikes me that when the cost of the fuels for vehicles has risen as the Government would have us believe; from the producers. Why in hells name do they not bring down the amount of tax they are charging on it, and tax something else more heavily that is less important, but equally used every day( i.e booze); seeing as they have so many problems from it.

Can't they see that they are going to bring this Country to a standstill. If the Hauliers are not able to afford the fuels to transport the goods that we need in our daily lives then we are all going to be going backwards in time instead of forward.

It will have a knock on effect like it did back in the 70's when the coal miners went on strike and the fuel(then coal, was not getting through) and we shall all end up with a 3 day working week, because Companies nor Joe Bloggs in the street can afford the fuel because of short working weeks.

I say a VOTE of NO CONFIDENCE in the government.....what say you?
