Today I got a red eared slider from the flea market. The guy gave them to us in a box. The guy kept them in a cage with a little bowl of water. He told us that we could keep him in the sun for 10 minutes, and that should be good. When we bought this turtle we didnt realize everything he needed. We didnt have exactly what he needs. Right now he is in a small 8 inch by 8 inch fish tank. He has water deep enough to dive in, and a rock to sit on and bask in the light. Our light isnt a UV light. Just a regular light bulb. There isnt a water heater, but there is a air filter. He is only in this temporaroly. We are going to move him into a bigger one once its ready. We were told the turtle is all the way from California. Im she he is stressed out. We have been feeding him 'Turtle Bites- Aquatic turtle food' but he wont eat it. I gave him some lettuce too, and he wont eat it either. Im not sure of what else to do.
Can someone tell me why he wont eat?
