Why won't my Mp3 work with my car stereo?

I have a Sansa Mp3 that I am trying to play through my car stereo. My car stereo has an auxiliary jack on the front and I connected my Mp3 to the jack via a cable. I can barely hear my music when playing through the Mp3. I have to run it full blast and it still only gives a soft sound. Any ideas why? Otherwise my Pioneer stereo plays loud and fine.
