Why wont my iphoto 08' read my RAW images from my Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ28?

When i import an image from my camera to my iphoto; or from my desktop to my iphoto; i get this message "Unreadable Files: 1 The following could not be imported (The import failed.)" and it wont import! Anyone know how i can fix this or why its happening? I thought iPhoto 08 supported raw photos?
 
Log on to Apples website and look for the newest RAW plug-in that includes the FZ28 camera.

With every new camera, the RAW file compilation includes more data and all the programs that process RAW files have to be updated to accommodate those changes
