Why won't my iPhone 4 connect to iTunes? HELP?!?

My iPhone won't connect to iTunes or any other program on my computer when ever i plug it in.
i've tried 4 different other cords but none of them work.
i've tried to clean out the part where you put the cord too on the phone.
HELP
