why wont my computer let me through the net!?

Check it is connected to a device e.g. a router or modem so it can connect to the internet.
You dont just grab a computer and expect it to get the internet.

It will either have a wireless connection (wireless) or ethernet connection (connected via cables).
Google ethernet to see what it looks like (if you dont know) then see if there is one plugged into your computer.
If you think you have a wireless connection there will be some bar in the bottom right of the screen to the left of the clock than show the connection (like the signal bars you see on mobile phones).
You can click that, click connect to a network, select the name of YOUR network, enter the password for you wireless connection if you have one.

I hope this helps but its very hard to explain

although it is connected to the internet (there is a world sign at the bottom), it wont allow google, msn, etc to open. it is connected. also, this is at my parents house: and it is working for my sibling's on their computer? so why not mine? the internet at my university was working for me? also, i have used their internet before a few weeks back and i was working fine. help!
