I have a Honda cb-1 400 1991. It starts first time when cool. I ride it till it gets hot, then try start again and all I get is click. Let it cool, then it starts again. Dont think its battery as llights and hooter are fine and why would it start when cool again? Any suggestions?
The bike isnt overheating....
If the fuel was vapourising, wouldnt it still swing when i try and start? Not just click. the bike also runs fine, doesnt cut out.
If I did have a leak, wouldnt it affect the running of the engine, not just the starting when hot?
Thanks Bardic, from my limited mechanical knowledge that sounds the most likely. Just hope its not going to be expensive or difficult to have fixed.
Thanks for all the answers guys
Thanks misskitti.... interesting bet :-P

tey know nothing,i been woorken on motorbikes for long time,ok there are hot and cold sparkplugs, hot sparkplugs still spark up when it is cold or hot, well one of them keep going when its hot,one of them stops like a self tripen alar, when its trped it goes off,but this turns it off,try going to the shop and buying a new sparkplug,it has happend to a few of my bikes, hope this helps.

...the "carb(s)" are vapor-locked... (you've got a "pin" sized leak(s) somewhere... a hose, a fuel line...something is vapor-locking your carb(s)

i bet my left boob it's solenoid problem,
or the bushes in the starter motor.

ebay the parts may find them cheap.

own a 1980 honda twin star, he started on the button first push, if i ran the bike round block it just clicked on the button after that, if i tried to kick him off it was if the kick start was slipping and made a nasty noise.

that turned out to me the coil that was on it's way out and failed when the bike was ran.

so if not the solenoid i would say go for the coil check the plugs for a good spark

regards x kitti x

Sounds more like the starter, or its solenoid. You're quite right to understand it's nothing to do with the fuelling - it's clearly electrical, not fuel-related!

The fuel could be vapourising when the engine is hot but will work fine when cold.
