Why won't my 2000 Ford Winstar Start?

It runs great. When I use the a/c it still runs great...until I shut it off. Then when I go to start it again it won't turn over. I can wait 10-15 minutes and then it will start like there was no problem. When I don't run the a/c this never happens. I took it in for a diagnosis and they told me it was the alternator, which it was not. help!!!!
