I came home from a 1400 mile roundtrip in my car and since then it's had issues. The engine started sounding a little rough and the acceleration/gas started reacting differently. Can't say how exactly, but once you drive a vehicle long enough you notice small changes. Then the engine started dying out on me while driving. Trying to start it became difficult and when it did start it would soon after die out again with the lights and battery still on. Finally it died out on me for good as I was pulling into the driveway. I'm hoping to avoid expensive shop labor costs, what if it's a $10 part?
I realize this could be any number of things, but give me some things I could check out by myself without needing expensive equipment. So I can at least do what I can before taking it to a shop, what are things I could check and investigate for? A list form with descriptions for each would be the ideal answer. Thanks.
