Why won't it time stretch in Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Production Suite?

I just bought and installed Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Production Suite on my computer and I tried to use time stretch. It sort of worked but my media just won't shorten past the 4:30 minute mark. I have tried everything and it is REALLY getting annoying. Please help!!!!!
