Why won't any-one enter my birthday party contest?

I have a small non profit making website, and thought it would be fun to have a contest, the prize is coming out of my own pocket. I've only had 9 entries!
What am I doing wrong? How can I get more entries to my contest?
Any ideas would be great fully received
