ok, i have changed the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel pump and fuel filter. it is a 98 mazda mpv 3.0 w/ 125k!! i have been without a car for 3 weeks!! bought it at auction and didnt even make it home. what could it be??? my classes start in a week and need this running. dont have money for certified mechanic. what could it be? where would it be? and if i can test it, how do i test it?

If this car has been sitting for a long time, my first bet is that your timing belt has broken. You can easily check this by removing your timing belt cover. If this is the problem, be SURE to remove the belt tensioner and clean it out thoroughly with GUm-out spray and AMSOIL faoming cleaner. These things will muck up big time, if the engine was raised on regular oil and allowed to sit. THese things are HYDRAULIC, meaning they rely on a good, clean, source of oil and oil pressure. Good luck!!
