Why were the Books of Maccabees excluded from the Christian Bible?

The apocrypha were present in all Bibles up until about 1884. At that time they were removed by virtue of dubious authorship and/or non-canonical doctrine. It was not belived that they were God-inspired.

You can access it on the internet. "Apocrypha" then 'Maccabees'. When I read it it became clear why it was excluded. (That was many years ago, and I can't now recall the details.)

They were not excluded from the Christian Bible, only from the Protestant Bible. The original and true Christian Bible today still has exactly the same 73 divinely inspired books it had when it was first compiled at the end of the 4th Century. Luther removed 7 Old Testament books, and fully intended to remove 3 New Testament books as well, because they contained teaching that directly conflicted with some of the novel doctrinal ideas he was introducing. The vehement objection of his own followers made him back down from trashing the writings of the apostles, but he still removed 7 books of God's Holy Word that every Christian on earth had used for the previous 1,200 years.

The books of Maccabees are excluded from the "King James Bible"... all Bibles, even those who include the books of Maccabees are "Christian Bibles". (Yes, Catholics are Christians too.)

This is because the King James Bible was translated from the St Jerome Vulgate Latin Bible. When St Jerome (a Catholic by the way) was commissioned to translate the Bible into latin, he chose to translate the OT directly from the Hebrew originals & not the Greek version. Because he couldn't find any Hebrew copies of 1 & 2 Maccabees (and a few other OT books) he omitted them from his Bible claiming they were Apocryphal writings.

answer: It was excluded from the Jewish Tanakh as well mainly because it is more of a history book than a religious one. It tells the tale of the Maccabees overcoming superior odds to retake their land, rededicate the Temple and be free to worship as they wished, as Jews. It wasn't a book on prophecy or enlightenment from G-d.

The Maccabees are in the Christian Bible. They have been there since the Bible was canonized in the 4th Century. They are not in the Protestant Bible because they removed them. Protestants reject the Christian canon when it comes to the Old Testament and accept the authority of the anti-Christian, Jewish canon in Jamnia in 98 AD.
