why the war on terror?

First we go to war with iraq on the grounds of they had weapons of mass destruction we found nothing.Now we have got israel for 23 days openly using weapons of mass destruction in gaza yet the u.s and u.k sit back silent and never once mention israel using them .Is this just double standards its ok for israel to have weapons of mass destruction and openly use them on women and children .

mujalas i didnt expect a anti islam story why are the israelis using weapons of mass destruction against stone throwing and home made rockets palestinians use. We all know that israel does not want peace they want war just look at the people elected no mention of peace from one of them
mir miron israel used weapons of mass destruction just go on press tv u can see the evidence there. The reason missiles are fired are because israel wont lift blockade on gaza and also hamas are defending there land something that cannot be said fpr israel u cannot use self defense on somebody elses land.
bart u are the one whos uninformed where u get your figures from god knows u been watching tv too much.Over half that were killed were woman and kids and also yes they used white phosphorous and DIME in gaza and cluster bombs too.
 
i hardly think that israeli weapons used on Hamas militants were weapons of mass destruction.
Gaza is the most populated region in the world. their population nearly doubled in size in the last 14 years. in Gaza city alone, there are 410,000 inhabitants, which makes it roughly 9,000 palestinians per square kilometers. one standard cluster bomb over gaza would mean over 10,000 killed Palestinians, given the density of the population.

so if israel managed to leave gaza with a gazan death toll of around 1000, a majority of whom were hamas militants, id think its pretty clear that no weapons of mass destruction were used

to address your question more fully, this was just part of the war on terror. Hamas attacked israel repeteadly for 8 years, Israel retaliated after years of oppression.
this, of course, contraries to Bush's war on terror which was unprovoked and america was unharmed before his invasion

compare the pair.
Israel - Attacked by terrorists (Hamas) America: wants oil
Israel - retaliates, kills mainly terrorists America: loses many troops, one of the most controversial wars since the Vietnam war, kills many civilians, ruins iraqi infrastructure, makes a huge mess

i think its pretty fair to say that you are horribly uninformed.
 
cause a "war on nothing" sounds stupid, a "war on drugs" was already taken, and "we needed another name to move money under, and couldn't come up with one, so were being literal this time" didn't fly with congress.

Iraq had restrictions placed on it after the first gulf war. Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait unprovoked and by doing so he started a war with the United States because the United States is an ally to Kuwait. So when Iraq lost the war, Saddam Hussein had to agree to let United Nations inspectors into Iraq every few years. What started the second war was Hussein's initial refusal to let the inspectors in. He had let them come in for a certain number of years but then began to refuse. The difference between Saddam Hussein's Iraq and Israel is that Israel does not have sanctions (restrictions) placed on it by the United Nations.

Why are so many americans dissing their own country??? Whatever happened to patriotism?

Okay. Here goes. I'll try to make this clear. As a child having experienced Islam, I've seen more of its hidden side than many. Sure, there are verses in the Koran that say nice things, about compromise and peace. But did you know that according to Islamic law the later verses supersede the former? And in Surahs 5 and 9 (the last two written) it's all about killing the Infidels wherever they are.

Here's the basic gameplan of the anti-Israeli 'offensive':
-Make heaps of noise (in Arabic so the west doesn't know) about driving the jews into the sea, so that the Arabs in Palestine move out into Jordan etc. hoping to move back when the land is all theirs.
-Attack Israel, fail miserably... refuse to give palestinians citizenship in your country but build flimsy refugee camps.
-Complain about the state of the poor Palestinians.
-Get little kiddies to throw stones at border guards/ blow themselves up/ chuck fake explosives around
-Do the whole we're gonna attack Israel thing again, making more refugees.
-lose land miserably during the six day war...
etc etc...

That is somewhat irrelevant to your question, though. Let me get this straight. Islam is a religion of fear, of suppression, of terror and Jihad.
They attack because they hate. NOt because we did something wrong (I mean, would you say we did something to incite Pearl Harbour?) They hate our freedom, democracy, rights for women, civilisation, religions, our culture. That's basically it. Call me a racist, a bigot, or what you will, but excuse me, you wouldn't if I was denouncing America and western culture like some of you. It's always the underdog gets better rights. Political correctness gone mad.
And all you idealistic young ones at American universities infiltrated and funded by Islamic organisations in the Middle East, watch out. You could be the reason for the fall of Western civilization as we know it.

Look at the uproar about the Muhammad cartoons. Look at how Iran reacted with the anti holocaust cartoons. Then look at how Israel held its own anti Israeli, anti holocaust cartoon competition to counter Iran's. In Israel they are willing to mock themselves. In Iran they burned down the Danish embassy because of cartoons in some obscure paper. That should tell you why the west needs to defend its culture.

The war on terror is necessary.
WMD's, well, if say CAnada was waging a war of terror against us, wouldn't we strengthen the borders and search everyone trying to cross? woudn't you, as a border guard, retaliate if kids were throwing rocks at you all day long? wouldn't you send missiles into their weapons depots? That's all Israel is doing... it's a matter of why Hamas sited its military bases in Universities and civiilan areas. One would think they want to spill their own blood to create uproar.
