Why the sky is black in night?

Why the sky is black in night provided the sun is larger than earth and it is eluminating one part of earth, its light should be able to escape the periphery of earth and souhld be there in the sky and eluminate the sky as well. Please answer.
 
The sun is larger, but not close enough to the point of putting light all over. If it was that close, we would all be dead. Because of the heat. It's simple...the side of the earth that is turned towards the sun is illuminated while the side that is turned away is dark.
 
The earth has a tilt of appx. 20 degrees. Because of this tilt, light is distributed unevenly throughout the Earth. Also, the sun is appx. 6 light hours away from the Earth, and this great distance makes perspective different, so the perspective size of the moon is greater than the sun, albeit the sun being about 10,000,000 times the size of the moon.
