Why the fuck should we have a labor day?

Holidays are stupid in general, especially labor day. Colurabus day is probably the worst one of all. The only point in holidays is for people to party, over-indulge, and buy a bunch of stuff; the holidays that don't involve those things are holidays that I could give less than a shit about. The only thing I look forward to on Independance Day is fireworks and beach parties, the only thing I look forward to on Christmas is receiving and buying gifts and getting fucked up, and the only thing I look forward to on Halloween is eating a bunch of candy, partying, and making fun of the adults which dress up and go trick-or-treating like they're twelve, which for some reason is fairly common in my town. The only thing I look forward to on New Years Eve is to party and watch the incredibly boring ball drop and everyone looks at it like its the holy of holy's when I just see a boring ball slowly sliding down and a bunch of people cheering while freezing their asses off. Holidays suck.

No I did not. I said that crying oppression because you may have to contribute a tiny amount to get much better benefits than most private sector employees was ridiculous, and it is. Not once have I said that they are grossly overpaid.

Now if you want to talk about the nuraber of administrators in public school systems and how much they make, then maybe we'll be on to something.

It seems like the main cause is two-income householRAB that are now trying to get by on one income because the economy has gone to hell... that proves teachers are underpaid? How many other professions are there where people also make $40k (or however much) and would struggle to support a family they way they are used to after losing a second income?
