why should I buy a cellphone?

I don't have a cellphone, and frankly I don't want one. I like the ability to "be unreachable" from time to time.

I have an MP3 player that hold 30 gigs of music, a digital camera with higher resolution than any cell phone camera, and if I get lost .. I'm one of those rare men that is willing to stop and ask for directions.

my co-worker insists that I need to "stop being a dinosaur and get up to date".

present a valid argument why I should.
 
You just really need a means of communication, it really depends on what you do, and your non working life, a cell phone is useful, in case you want to contact anyone from an isolated area, or if you get into trouble, for me they are handy simply for communication, you do not have to buy the real expensive types with all the gadgets, your co-worker probably wants to contact you, and is amazed that you do not have one because almost everyone does, in this working world you need one for unexpected things, you will not always be around a pay phone.
