Why people argue on religious matters? have you ever thought it doesn't really matter?

As far as I recall reading in the Bible, no matter your origin, gender, social status, religion etc God accepts everyone equally in heaven (no matter whether you think it exists or not)..It is our actions which determine whether we go there or not..
So, if it is our actions that matter why we argue about religion? God would accept every good person in heaven no matter whether that person is Christian, Muslim, Buddhist etc or Atheist.. Therefore, why can't we all just get along and respect each others differences in beliefs (and not only)?
To the intolerant ones who think you can't be a good person unless you know about Jesus and that you won't go to heaven if you don't... well, what happens with those born in the ancient times who didn't know about him and what happens to people raised without having anyone tell them about Jesus? according to you they don't stand a chance even if their actions are that of a saint?!
CL- God is love, that is what Jesus was trying to teach us.. Sometimes he may punish people because of their actions who show no regret but we are all his children, aren't we? If you think that God does genocides then, do you approve genocides?! For God's sake, I dare not ask your opinions on the Holocaust!
canron4peace- exactly such things would be avoided if people would just let each other free to make their own choices.. No one would stone anyone for their beliefs or other choices..
Gary I- I believe in Jesus but not everyone knows about him (read above) and I believe people with good hearts and actions who however, didn't know about him will be saved still..
rowlfe- surprisingly I don't spend all my days at church..I am not that religious as you may think..
