Why nigerians have such expensive funerals? Even if the person was not rich

they would paint the persons house? Someone from Nigeria told me this but he could not tell me why they went to such an extreme. He also told me that they would build a house for the dead person so the world can see how great they lived. Its like a competition when someone dies.
