Why my Laptop is unable to read the USB flash drive?????/?

I am having a 8GB pen drive (USB Flash Drive). one day I forgot it in my trouser and my maid washed the trouser without knowing that the flash drive has been left in the pocket. Now my laptop is not able to read it. It is very costly pen drive and I can not afford to buy a new one. Can some body help me with this problem???????
