i hooked up an amp and speakers to my fuse box it worked fine then it smelled like something was burning and my gas, temp, and gauges arent working. no blown fuses. Any ideas. its a 2005 dodge stratus sxt

Sounds like that you didn't have a good ground connection and your gages caught a surge. Most gages don"t operate on 12 volts, they have a voltage limiter that limits total voltage reaching gages If you are lucky only the voltage limiter will be burned out. Otherwise the instrument circuit board probably has fried.

you didn't by accident hook it up to the part that was fused for the instrument panel i hope, because if you did you probably burnt a fusible link in to and those can be real hard to locate, first you,ll have to disconnect what you hooked up and start tracing wires, this can take a while to find, take your time with it because dodge has a lot of small wires running between there and the dash instruments, good luck.
