Why must we adapt to others' customs when they come to the United States?

Answer me this. Whenever foreigners come here to the United States and they are offended if we say Merry Christmas to them we have to change it to something else. If we go to their country we have to adapt to their customs and they don't have to for us.

We have been celebrating Christmas here in America for hundreds of years. But when another culture comes into America, they say nope no no that offends us you must do this. We are the majority they are the minority (in the case of California sorry to say, Caucasians are the minority and Latinos are the majority), shouldn't the foreign cultures if they come to America, shouldn't they have to accept our customs instead of them having us change to their customs?

Its a bummer when I can't walk up to someone say Merry Christmas to them and then they say that offends me or whatever.
Saying happy holidays doesn't cut it. I was raised up saying Merry Christmas by my family. And for 15 of the 18 years of my life that was never an issue. No it is. Sometimes it feels like people just make up random religions just so they can say something offends them.
I know what you mean. Why should we have to make exceptions to them when they are the ones living here. We shouldn't be reallocating our tax dollars to retrofit our country to help them here, they need to learn our language and accept us all and not whine about not having their own schools when they could just go to normal public schools or if they have the money to go to private schools/institutions.
