Why isn't my PS3 reading my ICON bluetooth headset?

I've just purchased an ICON bluetooth headset for my PS3 and it does not seem to be reading it.

I've charged the headset, unplugged the USB chord, pressed the power button and held it until it beeps and flashes blue. Then i've gone to settings -> Accessory Settings -> Manage Bluetooth -> Scan. And it just scans forever without reading anything

It's been scanning for 20 minutes now, is it supposed to take this long?
