why is yahoo messenger for mac so awful?

it's so bare bones it drives me nuts.

i used to like playing pool and doodle and stuff on my pc on y messenger.
pc y messenger was a lot more fun chatting.

i can't even find chat history on it.
does it even have THAT feature?

did the programmers actually sit down and TRY to make it as boring as possible?
