I recently asked a question for peoples opinions on a subject and it was removed for being chat. So why does y!a allow a sponsored question such as the one below?

I'm new to y!a and I'm having a hard time understanding what's allowed and what's not. I've read the community guidelines several times, but from what I understand if you ask for opinion rather than fact it's a violation.
I have sooo many things that I would like a better understanding of, but I'm so confused and now afraid to ask in case I receive more violations and lose my yahoo ID.
