Why is there such a pressure to take a side on the theist/atheist debate?

To clarify, I have found a large pressure in the general community to take up some sort of position on the existence of god. For example, in Pascal's Wager, he states, "Yes; but you must wager. It is not optional. You are embarked. Which will you choose then?"

Is this not a false dilemma?

Because we are still quite primative.
Someday we will learn that whether there is a God or Not...
Kissing it's ass all day is not what's gonna put us in Heaven!

Yes it is. How can any analytical mind not see the problem in taking a side in a debate that cannot be proven either way ? I know the atheist will say "see, no proof", yet can we, as evolved but still barbaric creatures truly grasp the concept of "God" ? The theologian says "see, this book says its true" which, lacking any real evidence is also ludicrous. I take the third stance. Agnostic
