Over Spanking as discipline? For 100s of years spanking has been used worldwide, and has been accepted. Now all I read is how cruel it is! Personally I think grounding a child for weeks (especially now in summer) is much more traumatizing than a few whacks on the Butt! If spanking teaches kids to solve problems by hitting, How come I never see arguing adults spanking each other?
 
Smoking has been done for 1000s of years but now we know it's bad for us, yet people still don't quit. Just because something has been around for a long time doesn't mean it's still appropriate.

Personally I like the idea of grounding because it does leave more of an impact that a brief, soon forgotten, spanking.
