why is there no history in my browser?

I only have one site listed in the internet explorer browser. If i click on the button for past sites i have visited nothing happens
I tried changign the days. If i type in say epsn.com then cbssports.com then yahoo.com THEN click on the arrow to show site ive looked at it wont show any pages ive visited. I'm using the new internet explorer

do you have a shared computer cos the other person may have deleted the browsing history...lookin at naughty sites perhaps
