Why is there no corroboration of The Holy Libel's Slaughter of the innocents story?

No evidence in the archeology. No evidence from Flavious Josephus, Herod's biographer. No corroboration of national infanticide from the Roman authorities. How does the Holy Libel get total, unabashed lies to "sell" to Christians?
