why is the video game madden nfl name after john madden?

thier are so many better coaches then him like vince lambardy, chuck knoll , tom landry on and on, whats the give , nobody is bigger then a sport of football i don't see basketball video games name jordan 10 , its name nba live or nba 2k, whats the give?
 
He developed the game that is why it's named after him. John Madden made the game and rated the guys on how well HE thought the players played. It doesn't mean that it's named after him because he coached well, although he was a fantastic coach, he developed the game and many people name their stuff after themselves...that's just me though.
