Why is the universe so big?

Is it filled with many crazy life forms, or is all those galaxies for us humans to live in one day?
Or is it all just to give us here on Earth something to look at?
 
why is it so big? because there is lots of "space" hahaha. and if you consider that every star in the sky is a sun which then prolly has planets surrounding it then id say there are prolly lots and lots of crazy life forms out there just very far away.
