Why is the "save game" so shitty in Zelda:TP?

I'm playing Zelda right now, and absolutely love it. It's the funnest game I've ever played. That being said, I have one major complaint - saves. If I'm in one of the Temples, and am 99% through, and decide to save the game and come back later, I have to start at the beginning. It remembers that I've found and unlocked everything, but I still have to walk through the whole damn thing.

I can understand if you die, you have to start over. But if you save, you should be able to resume where you left off. I'm finding that instead of turning off my wii, I just pause it and come back to it later. Unfortunately this screws up my times, because I've actually played it for about 15 hours, and it says 45 hours, because it was paused for about 30 hours.

That's part of the reason I'm in that little village, I have to go back and get the boots still. I play Wii sports more, I also have been renting tons of games.

If you die, you should have to start over at the beginning of the level, or that section. But if you save, and want to continue playing later, it should let you resume. Very stupid.

I used that as an example. It could be 20%, or 70%, whatever. It's stupid. You're forced to play through the entire Temple without shutting it off.

I haven't played any Zelda games since OOT, so I don't remember. Besides, shouldn't new titles seek to make the experience better, rather than staying the same?

Have you confirmed that this actually works? I will have to try it. Is the bird a one time use, or can you use it whenever you want?

But it would diminish the challenge if you could do that. Frankly, I'd be dissapointed if a Zelda game ever did adopt the whole "save anywhere and restart from that exact spot system".

I suppose they could have done something like a "quick save", though...where you can save and end your game, and then reload at that exact point, but the save file is erased as soon as you load it. That would help if you had to stop playing suddenly for whatever reason, without allowing you to save right before the boss and just keep reloading your save if you die.

It does work, I've done it. And you can use the bird as often as you like...but you have to find him in each dungeon before you can use him.

werd, I can't go into a temple and stop halfway, its just not my nature. I have to finish it when I start it or just not start it at all until later.

Now what are you going to do? I expect that it'll take me twice that long because I want to get nearly as much as I can the first time through.

There should have been a re-spawning toggle, where you can turn re-spawning on, just to make it harder for some masochist folk. I hate re-spawning, but I enjoyed it in Turok 1.

I have no idea. I got all the heart pieces after that, and then all of the item upgrades. The only thing left for me is to get some poe souls but that's about it. The game is so boring now. I just ride around Hyrule Field on Epona and run over the monsters now.

its just like when you fall off of a beam into some lava, you're started back at the beginning, not where you fell off at

doesn't bother me, occasionally you can pick up some random shit you forgot anyway
