Why is the people that complain about a school system those who seem to fail the most?

Many people in my school seem it is necessary to complain about the level of education they are receiving. It would appear to me that these people should spend less time complaining and more time actually doing their work, because they show to lowest levels of success. Me, along with several others who just mind to their work seem to have the highest success rate.
Example: I'm taking a college level algebra class, me and three other people seem to be the only people who are genuinely passing the class, while the rest of the class (the seniors) seem to have a high level of difficultly understanding the material; I often notice half of the class is spent with them complaining about how "this school sucks" and the like.
Am I finding correlation without cause, or is this common in other areas as well?

I don't know if I fully understand. You're saying blame the schools because the student won't learn?
