This is coming from an American too, ironically. On the Jeep UK website, it says that the Commander is 29,000 pounds, the exact same as a Land Rover Discovery. In America, the Commander costs a staggering $20,000 less than the LR3 (what the Discovery 3 is called in the US) which would explain why people buy them in America. For $29,000, it offers a decent value although it's still horrible. I rented a Grand Cherokee in Nevada, and it had the worst ride/interior of any other car I have ever driven! And I used to own a '98 Camry!
But I digress... How does Jeep expect the Commander to sell when it's priced identically with the LR3 which looks much nicer, has more off-road gadgets, and is way roomier inside? Plus, there are always Americans who say "I'm doing my part by buying an American car..." I'm sure British people put nationalism in their car buying decisions as well, so of course the Discovery is going to sell much more than the Commander.
And if Jeep had to price it like that because of taxes, or w/e, why did they even bother to sell it there?
scratch that, it actually costs 2,000 pounds more! and it doesnt even have leather or anything! wow lmao.
