Why is the inline 6 engine in Jeep's the best?

I have read & heard of much praise regarding the inline 6 AMC Jeep engine that was discontinued in Jeep's back in 2006 for quite some time now.

I own a Jeep with the 4.0/inline 6 motor set-up & I feel that it's a better set-up than a V6 or V8 configuration. What are your thoughts?

The inline 6 has a the simplicity of an inline 4 with better natural balance and a great sound (although that's very subjective!) and some of the finest examples out there are found in older supras (awesone engine with huge potential) and several small BMW's (can you say 2001 M3's?).

Your jeep engine may lack the technology and performance found in the Beemer engines but it will probably never die and keep pulling hard if maintained with care. Traits that fit a Jeep perfectly!

Torque and Durability. Don't get me wrong it has it's faults... but it's just a good engine... like the 22re for 'yota's.
