size truck? Harley Davidson destination charge is $995
a new Chevy Silverado 1500 destination charge is $695

Can someone explain to me why it costs more to ship a Harley than it does to ship a full size truck?

One reason might be because most Chevy dealers receive a carrier full of vehicles so the total cost is averaged between them. A Harley dealer probably only buys one or two Harley's at a time but fuel costs just as much and it takes just as long for the truck to drive the distance.

it costs more to tow any motorcycle as well, the towing company will claim its because its a special tow.Maybe the shipping companies run the same scam? I bet its the same with Any motorcycle, not just H.D. remember they are just passing the shipping charges on to the consumer!I had to have my panhead towed once cause of a simple stupid wiring short it was 60 bucks just to put it on the truck! Towed it about 5 miles to my house [and tools] and the total cost was 120 dollars! I had that bike running in about 15 minutes and was PISSED!
