I'm talking about NCAA football, FBS. The Army and Navy are both Independent programs because they do not need the financial backing of a major conference. The Air Force, I would think, should be in the same situation. But they are a member of the Mountain West Conference. Just curious why they chose to join a major conference while the other two service academies did not.
Why is the Air Force a member of a conference, but the Army and Navy are not?
