Why is Robert Mugabe bothering with the run-off election?

It's pretty clear to anyone with a pulse that he is just another brutal tyrant who will kill anyone to stay in power. Why go through a meaningless charade when he has nothing to gain from it?

Surely he could just cancel the election, as dictators do, and save a lot of people from torture, rape and murder?
 
The man's a deluded monster. And all the countries who are standing by and just watching him should be tried for War crimes.
 
When you're in the Scam Business, you gotta make it look good and real.

Robt. Mugabe does not want it to look like a 'dictatorship'. Instead he has got to make it seem 'democtratic'.

Problem is that no one is gonna say anything or do anything. Frankly I don't blame politicians either - it's like walking on s.h.i.t.

Anything anyone says will be turned against them by Mugabe.

Look at it like this. Mugabe is the personal choice of the UK Labour Party - they supported him back when and even now while he spits in their faces, they say nothing against him.

It's rather like that old Methodist saying that, "If you've got nothing nice to say about a person or event, then say nothing."

. . . .and so it goes.
