Why is my Verizon Wireless iPhone bill so high?

I have unlimited Internet data plan for $29.99 and my talking plan is I believe around $60 for 400 minutes. I just received my first bill for my iPhone and the total is $177.00 why is my bill so high. When I bought my phone the sales associate said that my monthly bill would be around $99.00.. Does anyone know why my bill us so high. I'm really annoyed about this bill.. Please help
