Why is my USB flash/jump drive showing up as a folder and denying access?

I have a Lexar 512 MB USB drive that I picked up at Office Max on sale just a few months ago. I have never had any problems with it until today at school, when it wasn't showing up at all on my computer. Eventually, after removing it and reinserting it a couple of times, it showed up, but as a folder instead. Also, the computer would say access denied when I tried to open it. I eventually got it opened somehow, but now I am home and it won't open it at all. I have scanned it for viruses but found none. I have a lot of important school stuff on there. Does anyone know how to fix this, and if it isn't fixable, is there any way to move that stuff off of it to my computer?
I lloked and I did not see any type of switch...
 
Haha, What you have to do is look at the usb. On the side it will have two diffrent locks. There also will be a switch. Move that over to the unlocked lock.
